Is four a crowd?

because I'm moving in............
Today I painted "sleeping porch" and big pink cabbage roses in Margo's girls room.

The room is nearly finished with the exception of the huge walk in closet and cushion in the bench alcove area. It is just darling, wouldn't you agree?
The chandelier can be found here, at Posh Tots, or here, at Koo Koo bear kids.
The duvets are from Target and is the simply shabby chic. The rest of the bedding is just mix/match from her own collection. The pink frames are by moi! One says "girlfriends" and the other "sisters. "

More chalkboard inspiration!

I just picked up 2 quarts of chalkboard paint for a little project this weekend!

Jayne's Cottage

My friend Jayne lives in this darling colonial with her 3 kids, Labrador retriever Elly, and husband.

Every inch has oozes with detailing. Around each corner is something interesting and beautiful. She has created a HOME that is comfy, cozy, and just too darn adorable!

There are barn stars everywhere. She got this red locker storage unit at Pottery Barn years ago. I heart that big red barn canvas!

The plantation shutters are to die for and contrast nicely with the red walls!

Here is my little plug: I made her those red frames and Banks Family sign!

Love the colors in this huge canvas!

This is one of my favorite pieces of furniture in her house. It is a soft faded greenishblue color with a butcher block top and sits in her kitchen.......sigh

The kitchen is under construction. She just got slab granite countertops and shortly will be intalling white subway backsplashes. A new larger window went in above the sink and the cabinets were recently painted! Love the contrast of the white cabinets with the exposed black hardware!

It's all in the details!

The family room has these fabulous built in's that cover an entire wall. Each cabinet and drawer has dividers built in for perfect organization!

Recycled May Day Basket Idea

I ran across this great idea here.

The kids and I are going to have to do this one!

(Harper, Savannah says HI!) Use tall tin cans (the ones pasta sauce comes in), a coat hanger for the handle, a piece of brown paper grocery bag cut with scalloped scissors and a piece of twine. The cans would be extra sweet with a scrap of pretty scrapbook paper, or fabric and pretty ribbon tied around the middle or you could paint the can. Pierce holes for the handles by nailing a nail in each side of the can.

Make the handle long (about 18 inches) so it will fit over a door knob when filled with flowers.

window box beauties

It's that time of year. Time to clean out the window boxes and give them a fresh spring look! I love using trailing plants, lots of ivy!

although the dasies are pretty cute!
This is ovbviously for fall/winter, but I thought it was worth sharing!

Choosing a container and a location is a fine start for window box gardening, but picking the right plants really makes the difference in your growing success. Generally, select a mixture of trailers, compact upright plants that grow tall enough to be seen without blocking the window, filler plants, and bulbs.
For a dramatic display, choose plants that contrast with the background — bright plants against light siding or wood, pale flowers against dark brick walls.

3's not a crowd

This is my friend Margo's girls' room. It's still under construction, but being even more impatient than I am, she has already moved beds in! She has 3 girls and one boy. All the girls wanted to be in the same room. So, she added on to one of their rooms as seen here. The first room you see was the original. It was the room I painted the thick stripes in. The add on is the room through the opening. It houses all their beds. It's darling. I am going to write "sleeping porch" on the moulding separating the two spaces.

Same beds with slightly different bedding, all keeping with the pink and white theme. I made the huge "always kiss me goodnight" sign above the windows. It's 6 feet long!

There will be a giant chandelier and the girls have also gained a huge walk in closet, I will post photos when it's done! There is also a window seat with sconces and basket for the toys. This is just a sneak peak!

~A few garage sale goodies~

Cross your fingers that my sister has a girl!~ I picked up this House Inc. bumper, 3 sheets, and crib skirt plus 2 matching curtains for $55.00! This vintage, heavy, solid piece of furniture was a whopping $10.00! I am going to put it in my potting shed!

It has great detail along with it's chippy paint! I don't have to do a thing to it!

~I want one~

I think I have found the perfect chicken coop. Now, just have to work on the community and their little by laws!

quilts

Did you get your latest issue of Pottery Barn? If so, you saw this beautiful sleeping porch with these fabulous quilts! It brings back memories for me of when I was little. I always had a hand made quilt on my bed. My mom is a quilter and her mom was one too. I was so excited to see this picture....... they just ooze with country charm, don't they?
we always had stacks of quilts like this around the house when I was growing up

This picture looks a lot like my mom's sewing room!

Isn't this clever? If you have a quilt that is ripped or has a stain, cut pieces out of it and use for basket liners!
