~VINTAGE FINDS~

~couple new vintage etsy items to report! This darling little sweetheart is begging to come home with you! She is from 1973.~ And check out this beauty!
Head on over to my etsy store to check things out!

~mirror mirror on the wall~

My project of the day~I bought this giant (over 4' tall and over 2' wide) mirror and although the gold color was a bit formal for my taste, I knew I had to have it!Another thing I liked about it is that it is obviously very old.
The frame was a bit chipped up and the mirror is slightly de-silvered, which I love the look of!

I applied 3 coats of Ralph Lauren Roadster White
and once it was dry, gently sanded it down and aged it a bit!

I love how it turned out!
It now fits in perfectly with my decor!

~tin-can ice cream~

One of the kids' favorite things to do in the summer is make their own ice cream. It's so good and so rich, and the perfect treat for a hot summer afternoon. It's super simple to make and only uses a few ingredients. It's also a fun activity to do with friends or on a camping trip. 1 (3 lb.) clean coffee can with lid
1 (1 lb.) clean coffee with lid
2 or more kids
ice
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Fruit (smashed), chocolate, etc. (optional)
Rock saltIce, or ice cream salt (crushed or small cubes)

Pour all food ingredients into 1-pound coffee can. Put lid on securely. Place inside 3-pound coffee can. Layer ice and salt around sides of small can. Put lid on 3-pound lid on. Roll briskly on hard ground for 10 minutes - cement works best.
Open lid and drain ice water. Open 1-pound lid and stir, scraping sides well. Put the lid back on. Re-pack big can with ice and salt. Re-lid and roll again.
Makes about 3 cups of ice cream.
Enjoy!

~armoires, they're not just for storing clothes~

I love armoires for storage.
As you can see with these pictures, armoires don't just have to be used for clothes or linens.
Here they have grouped a collection of pottery. This one has been turned into a mini closet for a child.

Tuck an office out of the way.

When company comes over, close the doors and no more mess!

another version of the kids closet

How about lining the back of an armoire with wallpaper, wrapping paper, or mirrors?

tons of kitchen storage here...

this is just beautiful!

another office...

I love how rustic this is....

these 2 armoires were built in for a seamless look.

This one is very grand.
I love going to 2ND hand shops and finding one with good bones.
Add some appliques and paint, distress it, and you have a beautiful custom armoire!

This is my new favorite look.
Turning one into a bar.
So clever!

This one from country living is my all time favorite!

Have you done anything clever with an armoire?
I'd love to see it!
xoxo
