Happy Wednesday!
This is the story of a small project that turned into a bigger one.
We had roads closed yesterday so I either had the option to stay home or be out all day.
I decided to stay home and get some loose ends tied up.
I took everything off the kitchen walls and spackled all the holes.
Then I got ready to re-paint.
I was going to use the same color but when I went to get it I realized I was out.
I couldn't leave so I used what I had

With a freshly painted kitchen I decided to update my little office nook.
I recently bought some old wood moulding at a flea market and I made it into this frame.
It's big measuring approx. 2'x3'
I then got one of my favorite pictures out of my son when he was 3 and had it enlarged.
The piece of wood on top of the picture is a piece of really old French moulding. The detail is amazing. I paid just $5 for it at a garage sale!
I left the old nails in it because I think it adds to it's character and charm.
The skinny door on the right I purchased at an antique store for $12.
I was originally going to turn it into a chalkboard, but I think now I will just hang a pretty little calendar from it.
It really works well.
It has 3 drawers, the bottom being a file cabinet.
placed them in a container I already had.
The "books" are actually boxes that I keep bills in.
I love the detail and I love how there is only a hint of paint left on both pieces.
This is where I blog from!
Have a great day friends!
xoxo

Beautiful...you're so talented. I don't know how you do it...gardening, carpentry, paiting, decorating...what else do you have up your sleeve of tricks?!?!
Hi Melaine,
What a beautiful space! I love the photo of your son, it is such a great momento! I love photos of my kids like this around the house and they love seeing themselves. I also just have to tell you that you and your husband did a fabulous job on your daughters room, it is just gorgeous!!
Have a great day.
Sincerely,
Melinda
So lovely and creative.
Great little nook!
I had seen a great idea on aa design show to take old books and make them in to a wall hanging storage.
When I get around to it I had planned to put my bill paying stuff in a hollowed out old book instead of the bright blue plastic coupon organizer I keep it in now.
It looks great! I love the french molding and your sons photo. Fabulous!!!
Beautiful!
Lovely and inspiring! Thanks for sharing!
Great little nook, you DID get a lot done in one little day. It seems lately that my days are VERY long and I don't get much done at all. Looks nice! Love all the white, the old and the new.
Love it! Can't go wrong with a creamy white! Love the photo of your son and your wood trims. Also that white door is adorable! Looks like a space that functions well and is a happy place to be while paying the bills!

Wow, you've sure got an eye for great pieces. In the past I would have looked right past an "old piece of wood" but after reading great home decor blogs like yours, I'm learning to see the potential in everything! Thanks for a great blog. I enjoy it everyday :)
What a beautiful space. Love the idea of making frames out of old molding. That is a great picture of your son! :)
Just gorgeous. You've certainly inspired me to tidy up and try to beautify my study area. The frame you made is lovely - just the right thing to hold such a lovely photo of your son.

Hey, I have a couple of questions for you...I was viewing you smaller bathroom over at Rate My Space and I was wondering if you could tell me where you purchased your beadboard? I really like the width of the planks as well as the grooves. Also, what type of glaze and did you use and did you also paint the baseboard and door to match or leave them white? Thanks
Girl, you are busy! I don't now how you get so much accomplished in such a short time. It's beautiful. I have a huge to do list, but right now I am doing everyone else's to do list!!
Lovely! It has a fresh and clean feel to it. Love the photo of your son-what a great joy it must be to look at that every time you sit down to work. Diana
