~slowing things down~

As we get back into the routine of things around here,
I am remembering how crazy our schedules get this time of year.
Kids are back in school which means homework,
conferences, room mom planning, and sports 6 days a week.
That doesn't leave much time to get real creative with dinners.
However, I found this great blog
and it got me thinking.
I dusted off the old crock pot the other night and made this for dinner.
It was a huge hit and we enjoyed leftovers for lunch today.
I think I may just have to make crock pot meals every night the month of September! This is another site I found with some
yummy looking recipes I'd like to try.
But tomorrow we are having
And after that I'm dying to try the apple cheddar and turkey meatballs.
There is even some great dessert recipes you can make in a slow cooker,
as well as drinks, who would have thought?
Do you have any good crock pot recipes?

Happy labor day friends!
xoxo

Hi Melaine, I use my crockpot quite a bit in the Fall and Winter. We love homemade soups when the weather is chilly.

Crock pot meals are must for us. Our daughter plays year round volleyball and there are times she has been in the gym 6 days a week. I use it for soups, chili, roasts, spaghetti sauce (with or without meatballs), taco meat, fajitas, and much more. I can prepare things while she is at school, throw it in, turn it on and forget about it til dinnertime. Southern Living has a great Slow Cooker cookbook, but I'm sure you can find many of the recipes online.

Oh yeah...I dust my crockpot off about this time of year too. I have a wonderful chicken and wild rice soup recipe that is to die for. I think I am making it on Thursday. If I do, I will blog it and come back to let you know. Everyone raves about it~ Happy Crocking! Diana

I promise you, this makes the crock pot even easier. Throw in one container of Trader Joe's roasted red pepper soup (plus one c water), add some frozen corn and a package of Trader Joe's chimichurri rice. You can add any other veggies that you might have around if you'd like. Trust me...you'll love it!

Thanks for the reminder of the crock pot and the great recipes. I have mine tucked way back in the cupboard and forget it's there. Will get that out tonight! Perfect for Fall. Hope you had a great labor Day weekend.

We too have sports 6 days a week, along with dance 2 days a week. The crockpot has become my best friend. A friend of mine gave me the link to that same blog a few weeks ago. Last night we had the cranberry roast...yum! So far I've tried 3 of her recipes, and they've all been good. You can even cook corn on the cob in there and layer your whole meal...meat and sides...crazy stuff! Enjoy crockpotting:)
Here is a wonderful recipe my friend gave me. It is YUMMY...my hubby and our kids ALL liked it, which is rare.
Crockpot Chicken Tacos - frozen chicken breasts, 1 Tbsp brown sugar, canned enchilada sauce, taco seasoning packet, small can green chiles, small can drained mexicorn. It's good served with taco shells & sour cream
***When I made it the chicken was thawed.

I love a good crock pot recipe. I def bookmarked those turkey meatballs- they look delish.
Over the weekend I made a whole chicken using this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/whole-chicken-crock-pot-recipe-33671
It was amazing. I don't think I'll roast a chicken any other way.
