Aren't they gorgeous?
I am a little envious, I have to admit!

So simple, clean, perfectly perfect.

Speaking of a clean house, I'd better get off the computer and tend to mine!
I hope you all have a fabulous Halloween.
We are going to an "adult only" party tonight....
do I dare share pictures on my blog tomorrow?
ha~ha!
That makes me think of the saying,
"if you don't have fun on a Saturday night you won't have anything to talk to Jesus about on Sunday!"

~our spooky front porch~

Well, I gave the witch legs a try and they turned out "ok"
But I wasn't completely happy with them, so onto plan B.
I found this life size skeleton at a garage sale
this past summer and thought he would make a great prop
in my black urn on the porch.
We are now officially ready for trick or treaters!
If you remember, I made the dead and breakfast sign out of old wood I had laying around.
The skeleton is surrounded by a pumpkin garland
I picked up at Pottery Barn kids a few years ago.
The kids' carved pumpkins surround the base of the urn.
I also added a huge spider web with some giant furry spiders.

And of course added some faux crows here and there.

It's pretty spooky, but still kid friendly! :)

Wishing you all a happy and safe Halloween!
{if you haven't done so already, pls. enter the giveaway below!}

~paper pumpkin tutorial~

I got so many good ideas at the
flea market this past weekend.
One of them was a pumpkin
made out of a book,
{this one is an apple}
So, I came home and tried to
find directions on how to make one.
Guess what?
I did! Go here for the step by step instructions.
I also have something to confess.
I didn't bring my camera to the show.
Bad, bad, bad!
However, so many people took pictures and I will share the links with you as I find them.
My friend Isabell took some great shots and you can see my booth in one of the photos
{the one with the book page wreaths on the wall}
You can see them here.
Let me know if you make one of these pumpkins, or apples.
I am thinking I will do these for the kids' teachers for a Thanksgiving gift.
Out of an old dictionary perhaps?

~wild thing, you make my heart sing~

Something about these wild trees in these interiors makes me smile.
Today started out with my kids forgetting their lunches at home.
After driving them to school I came home, opened up the fridge, and there they were.
So, back to school I went.
This little escapade set me back about an hour.
Then when I got home I started cleaning.
I never thought I would actually look forward to
the day when I had every room in the house to clean.
It feels like such a relief seeing my house clean.
As you know, I have been getting ready for this flea market
and my housecleaning has taken the back seat.
So, I have scrubbed, washed, vacuumed, and fluffed,
and I am ready to leave my home, clean, as I go to the flea tonight.
{not that it will stay that way for long}

I am really excited about this show. As I was setting up
yesterday I had the chance to walk around and see all the booths.
AMAZING!
That's all I have to say!
There is some serious talent out there!

I am putting the giveaway on hold until Sunday~hope you all don't get too mad at me....

Ok, must get in the shower, I do believe, actually I know,
no one wants to see me tonight the way I look right now!

~random & a winner~

I have learned something.
Flea markets are a lot of work.
My house has been turned upside down and laundry is piling up,
not to mention my kids have been making their own dinner.
Do chocolate chip cookies and fruit snacks count as a nutritious dinner?
I've barely had time to blog about anything interesting. Today is set up day.
Tomorrow night is the "bloggers ball" and
Saturday night I can sit back and relax!

Don't get me wrong.
I really do love doing these shows.
I get to meet a lot of new people and see some friendly familiar faces
that I don't see often enough.
After every show I always say I'd do it again.

~I also want to announce the winner for the annie grace bag giveaway~
It's Donna from
Casa Rue 2658.
Congratulations!
If you didn't win, don't worry,
I have another giveaway coming tomorrow!

~I am not a photographer~

~nor do I claim to be one in real life~
So you can see why I was a little reluctant when
a friend of mine asked me if I would
take her daughters senior pictures.
{pressure, pressure, pressure!}
I agreed though, and
thank goodness she is totally photogenic!

I think I took 125 total....
these are a few of my favorites.

I love how they turned out, what do you think?

~pottery barn organization heaven~

~Look what I got~

I am so excited

and can't wait to hang it up!

I've wanted one of these forever,

so when a good friend of mine was selling hers

I scooped it up!
I can't wait to go to the craft store and buy

all kinds of ribbons and wrapping papers that coordinate with the seasons . I am still on this getting organized kick and this is a great way to get started.

I'll be sure to show you pictures of it when it's on the wall and all "prettied up"

Also, thanks so much for all your kind comments and emails on the pillows I made.

I am not sure if I am going to sell any before the flea market, or wait until after it to put some up on etsy. I want to make sure I have enough inventory for the show.

And, don't forget to enter the annie grace giveaway.

~pillow talk~

I have been sewing like a crazy lady getting ready
I actually wasn't planning on making any more pillows,
but my {small} collection of vintage fabrics was calling my name. I am keeping this one below.
My mom made me this fabric flower out of fabrics
she used to make me clothes when I was little.
{Isn't that sweet?!}

I have combined vintage fabrics with burlap and ticking.

I had so much fun putting all the colors and patterns together.

The ones made out of vintage grain sacks are my favorite.

The navy and cream ticking is also a favorite of mine.

I love the colors in this one!
So fun!

I also incorporated a lot of reds.
I thought it would be fun with the upcoming Christmas holiday.

Know anyone named Timothy?
How sweet would this be on a little boys bed?

Some of the grain sacks have small stains or a little wear and tear.
Personally, I think this adds to the character.
It shows that they were well used and loved by someone.

{I am keeping this one for Christmas if it doesn't sell!}

I have made all different shapes and sizes.
These ones here I am calling floor cushions.
My kids love to use giant pillows to plop down on
the floor while they are watching tv.
I have 3 that measure around 25" square.

So, what do you think?
Do you like the patchwork look?
I sure hope to see some of you at the upcoming flea market.
Remember also, if you haven't already, you can enter the giveaway below.
Have a fabulous Saturday friends!

~annie grace giveaway~

You can never have too many bags right?
That is what I think! One for fall, one for summer, one for daytime, and one for evenings!
I was so excited to come across annie grace on etsy!
She uses fabulous funky fabrics to create these
handbags and shoulder bags that are one of a kind.
{she also takes custom orders}

She just finished up this fall bag for me. It's made out of brown corduroy with a darling little fabric flower and wooden button. All her bags are lined and finished off with her cute annie grace tag.
I think these would also make great birthday or Christmas gifts.
Please take a moment to visit Christy's etsy shop here.

After you do, come back here and leave me a comment telling me what you think.
If you could have Christy create a custom bag what fabrics would you use?
I will pick a random winner from the comments one week from today.
The winner will receive a annie grace bag of her own!
Thanks Christy for this wonderful opportunity!
{If you have an etsy shop and would like to take part in a giveaway on my blog, please email me for details}
xoxo
